Different Types of Foundations
It's not a secret that a house's foundation is very important. The foundation of a home is built in order to keep the building leveled, still, and in place. It also helps to keep the house insulated - keeping warmth in and moisture out. However, did you know that there are several different types of foundations that your home can be built on? Here are a few of the most common ones:
Concrete Slab Foundation - the most popular type. This type of foundation leaves no gaps between the home and the ground. They are easy to lay and are incredibly strong and dependable.
Crawl Space Foundation - a common option if the ground is sloped or the soil is stable. This type of foundation leaves space between the ground and the home. This is a popular option in areas that are prone to earthquakes.
Basement Foundation - the deepest foundation. This type of foundation comes with multiple advantages such as additional space and weather protection.
Less common options include wood, stone, and pier foundations. However, all of these options are suitable and have their own advantages.
Before building a home, it is important to look at your options to figure out which option is best for the size of your home, the ground it is being built on, and what type of area you live in.
